Practice Direction regarding the creation of temporary boundaries for family cases at the 47 Sheppard Ave. E and 311 Jarvis St. courthouses in Toronto

Beginning on September 1, 2024, all new family cases shall be started at 47 Sheppard or 311 Jarvis, according to the provincial electoral boundaries set out below.
This practice direction applies to people and agencies in all family cases. This includes:
- Children Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA) litigants (for example, parents in a CYFSA case);
- institutional litigants (cases with the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, Ontario Works, the Family Responsibility Office and the Office of the Children’s Lawyer); and
- Parties in a domestic family law case (family law cases between two or more people).
This practice direction does not apply to the Native Child and Family Services and the Jewish Child and Family Services cases.
Cases that were started before this practice direction came into effect (September 1, 2024) can continue at 47 Sheppard Avenue. Status Review Applications, Motions to Change or Contempt Motions related to an earlier case and started after September 1, 2024 will continue at 47 Sheppard Ave.
