On June 15, 2023, the Court of Appeal dismissed Justice of the Peace Lauzon's appeal from the hearing panel's misconduct decision, and allowed her appeal from the majority of the hearing panel's disposition decision. The Court of Appeal's reasons are available on CanLII and are reported as Lauzon v. Ontario (Justices of the Peace Review Council), 2023 ONCA 425.

As a result of the Access to Justice Act, 2006, amendments to the Justices of the Peace Act came into effect on January 1, 2007. The legislation provides for the Review Council to conduct public hearings under section 11.1 into complaints against justices of the peace.

For complaints addressed under the former legislation, a public inquiry was held under section 12 of the former legislation. Decisions from public inquiries can be found under Judicial Inquiry Reports.
